2025 CATEGORIES:

EMERGING HYDROGEN LEADER AWARD

The Emerging Hydrogen Leader Award acknowledges an up-and-coming individual whose efforts have already made a significant contribution to their organization, industry or community that go above and beyond their normal day to day duties. The nominee should stand out in terms of strategic thinking, leadership, community involvement and the pursuit of excellence in their field. The nominees in this category will have been in the energy industry for 10 or less years. Self-nominations are permitted in this category.

Questions for submitters:

  • Full name, job title and organization of nominee
  • Paragraph regarding the individuals job description that could be used for marketing materials
  • In what way are the nominee’s achievements unique and extraordinary within their organization?
  • How does the nominee go beyond the normal scope of their work?
  • What is the individual doing that is unique, when compared to their peers, resulting in making a positive impact within the hydrogen industry?
  • Is what the individual is doing able to apply beyond their organization?
  • Can others do what this individual is doing (e.g., is it transferrable to other individuals/organizations/industries)?
  • How has the individual contributed in an outstanding and meaningful way to their community?
  • If applicable, is there anything else the judges need to know?

HYDROGEN DIGITAL INNOVATOR AWARD

The Hydrogen Digital Innovator Award recognizes novel digital technologies advancing the hydrogen industry. All technologies in this category should be at stages of initial production and rollout, full production mode, or commercial (postpilot stage). This category is open to digital technology concepts that are less than five years old and are considered “game changers” in the energy industry.

Questions for Submitters:

  • Clear explanation of technology that can be used for marketing purposes. This MUST be public ready as it will be used to promote your submission on the website.
    How is your technology unique, new, or relevant to the hydrogen sector?
  • Please provide sufficient technical detail that people in your industry can appreciate it’s significance beyond technical specifications or features.
  • Who is the target market?
  • How user friendly is the digital system? Provide feedback from system users where appropriate.
  • What solution or value proposition does it offer the industry or end users?
  • What differentiates your solution from your competitors?
  • How does this create an advancement over what is currently achievable in your sector (financially or environmentally)?
  • Which Partners/Stakeholders/Clients did you work with for this project/technology?
  • Give evidence of commercial adoption (identify the stage bench-scale, pilot, launch)

HYDROGEN MOBILITY AWARD

The Hydrogen Mobility Award recognizes innovative advancement in tackling some of the challenges in hydrogen mobility including reducing cost, increasing energy efficiency, longer ranges and how to increase refueling station infrastructure. Submissions can include all forms of transportation (cars, trucks, ships, and trains). The category is open to innovative equipment, processes, or digital applications.

Questions for submitters:

  • Clear explanation of the innovation that can be used for marketing purposes. This MUST be public ready as it will be used to promote your submission on the website.
  • How is your innovation new or relevant to the sector? Please provide sufficient technical detail that people in your industry can appreciate the significance and not just spec or features.
  • Who is the target market?
  • What solution or value proposition does it offer the industry?
  • What differentiates your solution from your competitors?
  • How does this solution advance the hydrogen mobility problem?
  • How is this an advancement over what is currently achievable in your sector?

HYDROGEN TECHNOLOGY: EQIPMENT OR PROCESS CONTROLS AWARD

The Hydrogen Technology: Equipment or Process Controls Award recognizes highly disruptive innovations in equipment that have had a major impact on hydrogen efficiency, emissions, economics, scheduling, or quality. This category also acknowledges products or services specific to controls that make a positive impact to the hydrogen industry. All technologies in this category should be at either: initial production and rollout, full production mode, or commercial (post-pilot). If the underlying solution is digital, it should be submitted under the Hydrogen Digital Innovator Award category.

Questions for Submitters:

  • Clear explanation of technology that can be used for marketing purposes. This MUST be public ready as it will be used to promote your submission on the website.
  • How is your technology new or relevant to the hydrogen sector? Please provide sufficient technical detail that people in your industry can appreciate the significant and not just specs or features.

HYDROGEN DELIVERY AWARD

The Hydrogen Delivery Award recognizes innovative advancement in tackling some of the challenges in hydrogen delivery including reducing cost, increasing energy efficiency, maintaining hydrogen purity, and minimizing hydrogen leakage. Submissions can include all forms of hydrogen delivery including pipelines, liquefaction plants, trucks, storage facilities, compressors, and dispensers involved in the process of delivering fuel. The category is open to innovative equipment, processes or digital applications.

Questions for submitters:

  • Clear explanation of the innovation that can be used for marketing purposes. This MUST be public ready as it will be used to promote your submission on the website.
  • How is your innovation new or relevant to the sector? Please provide sufficient technical detail that people in your industry can appreciate the significance and not just spec or features.
  • Who is the target market?
  • What solution or value proposition does it offer the industry?
  • What differentiates your solution from your competitors?
  • How does this solution advance the hydrogen delivery problem?

HYDROGEN PROJECT AWARD

The Hydrogen Project Award recognizes small, medium, and large-scale projects globally. Projects in this category will be judged on technological advancement and impact on the community. All projects entered will need to be either completed within the 2023/2024 time period or will be projected to be completed or advanced planning stage by the end of 2024 in order to be considered.

Questions for submitters:

  • Clear explanation of the project that can be used for marketing purposes. This MUST be public ready as it will be used to promote your submission on the website.
  • How is your project relevant to the sector? Please provide sufficient detail that people in your industry can appreciate the significant and not just spec or features.
  • Who is the target market?
  • How many megawatts will this project produce?
  • How many metric tons of green hydrogen will it produce per year?
  • What differentiates your project from your competitors?

HYDROGEN EARLY ADOPTER AWARD

The Hydrogen Early Adopter Award honors trailblazers in climate action who have shown outstanding leadership, innovation, and dedication to advancing hydrogen solutions. This esteemed award recognizes organizations at the forefront of hydrogen adoption, celebrating those that have invested in pilot or groundbreaking demonstration projects within industrial or commercial settings. By championing hydrogen’s commercial potential, these pioneers are helping to shape a more sustainable future. 

Questions for submitters:

  • Provide a clear explanation of the initiative/project that can be used for marketing purposes. This MUST be public-ready, as it will be used to promote your submission on the website.
  • How is this initiative/project among the first to embrace and implement hydrogen (in your sector, region, using a particular technology, at a certain scale, etc.)?
  • In what ways has your initiative/project contributed to the advancement and de-risking of hydrogen technologies or use through innovative approaches, research, or development?
