David Johnston is Project Director for CEM Engineering, with a focus on developing the hydrogen economy in Canada and delivering hydrogen projects to support such development. David has been with CEM Engineering for five years leading CEM’s hydrogen initiatives with green hydrogen production facilities, fueling systems, and power generation applications.  His previous hydrogen experience includes roles with Ballard Power Systems, Ballard Generation Systems, and development of hydrogen storage system concepts in collaboration with BMW. Previously, David has been involved in different capacities in various areas of the clean energy economy, in Canada and internationally, including nuclear, tidal and hydroelectric, biofuels, electric vehicles, wind and solar installations, and sustainable city development. David has a Bachelor of Engineering Science (Mechanical) from The University of Western Ontario, and an MBA from the Ivey School of Business.  David is a licensed Professional Engineer and Project Management Professional (PMP).  He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Hydrogen Fuel Cell Association (CHFCA) and speaks English, French and German.
