Karen Nielsen is currently Executive Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer, ATCO EnPower, a global organization part of Canadian Utilities Ltd. and the ATCO Group of Companies. Karen leads the Commercial, Business Development and Commodity Marketing teams focused on the growth of our revenue across ATCO EnPower. Karen recently returned from Australia where she was responsible for the development of the renewables global business short and long-term strategy, to build and lead renewables project execution teams with a goal of completing on-time and on-budget.  With over 30 years’ experience in the Electricity, Oil and Gas sectors, Karen has a formidable record of performance in operations excellence, innovation, and profitability. Most recently, Karen was the Managing Director, Global Renewables, ATCO Australia where she was responsible for growing the renewables business in Australia and worldwide. Karen has held a number of executive roles including Senior Vice President, Renewables, North America for ATCO; Chief Development Officer with Seven Generations Energy; Senior Vice President and General Manager ATCO Power; Vice President Engineering/Operations with Birchcliff Energy Ltd.  Karen is a member of many reputable industry associations including APEGA, APEGBC, Institute of Corporate Directors, Canadian Society of Unconventional Resources and the Society of Petroleum Engineers.  Karen holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan.
