With over 14 years of expertise in renewable energy, including hydrogen, in Ukraine, Oleksandr Riepkin has been at the forefront of the country's energy transition. As a passionate advocate for sustainable energy, he has played a pivotal role in the development and promotion of hydrogen energy in Ukraine. His extensive experience in international negotiations and cross-border communication has been instrumental in driving Ukraine’s renewable sector forward.

Oleksandr Riepkin is the founder and first President of the Energy Association "Ukrainian Hydrogen Council" (2018 – 2023) - the first hydrogen energy association of leading energy, industrial and public companies of Ukraine. He continues to serve as Vice President and a Member of the Board, advocating for the advancement of hydrogen energy and international collaboration to drive the sector forward.

Oleksandr is actively engaged in hydrogen research and policy development. He is the author of eight scientific articles on hydrogen energy, co-author of the Atlas of Energy Potential of Renewable Energy Sources in Ukraine, and co-author of Ukraine’s Hydrogen Strategy. Since 2024, he has been a Research Fellow at the Institute of Renewable Energy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, where he conducts research and development in renewable energy technologies, focusing on sustainable energy solutions for Ukraine.

Oleksandr has played a key role in integrating hydrogen energy into Ukraine’s national and international policies. From 2020 to 2021, he served as an expert on hydrogen energy issues for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). He was an Adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on Hydrogen Economy starting in April 2020 and, from 2022 to 2024, served as the Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on Economic Diplomacy. In 2025, he took on the role of Legal Expert on Hydrogen and Regulatory Compliance within the Green Energy Recovery Programme by UNDP in Ukraine.

Oleksandr also has a strong background in business. He is the founder of several companies dedicated to hydrogen, solar, and wind energy development, including Tokmak Solar Energy LLC, Green Energy Tokmak LLC, and Hydrogen Ukraine LLC. His leadership in the private sector has driven significant advancements in clean energy production.

Through his scientific research, policy expertise, and private sector initiatives, Oleksandr Riepkin remains at the forefront of Ukraine’s renewable energy transformation, shaping the future of hydrogen and sustainable energy solutions.
